Joyce Inouye, M.A.Ed.
Owner of Christian Educational Therapy

From Jerry Haddock Ed.D; Southern California Regional Director of ACSI Schools:

“This letter is to serve as a commendation for Mrs. Joyce Inouye whom I have know for many years. During this time I have grown to appreciate Mrs. Inouye’s expertise as a Specialist in Learning Disabilities and Special Needs. As a former practitioner in an ACSI member school, Mrs. Inouye was highly esteemed by other special needs specialists throughout the Southern California Region.

For the past nine years Mrs. Inouye has served as a volunteer for ACSI in several capacities. First of all, she and a colleague pioneered in the establishment of the ACSI Special Needs Network. This network has grown to now include over 200 Christian schools that are working together to meet the specialist needs of students. Through the planning of the network, the Special Needs Institute was developed as part of the annual ACSI Teachers’ Convention in Anaheim, California.

Mrs. Inouye continues to voluntarily serve the region as a seminar planner. Not only is she involved in the selection of seminar leaders, she also orchestrates the scheduling of all the special needs seminars. At the convention, Mrs. Inouye coordinates and hosts the Special Needs Brunch and serves as one of our most capable seminar presenters.

As if the above was not enough to keep one fully occupied, Mrs. Inouye has developed and launched a website for special needs. www.ChildD.org is filled with a plethora of invaluable information for parents, teachers and administrators seeking assistance in the area of learning difficulties. Additionally, Mrs. Inouye provides psycho-educational testing, consulting and specialized tutoring services to those who want to draw from her expertise.

Mrs. Inouye is unique in her approach to services. She serves because of her passion, not due to any remuneration that she might receive. She is to be commended for both her professional contribution and her gift of selfless service.”

"I have known Joyce Inouye for over 15 years and find her to be the, most creative, competent and loving educational therapist/learning disabilities specialist that I have ever met. I have had the opportunity of seeing her lecture and work with children with learning disabilities and I am amazed at the love that flows back and forth between her and the children.

My specialty is providing vision therapy for children with visually related learning problems and in that capacity I have met hundreds of educational therapists and tutors. Joyce stands head and shoulders above all of them and I only wish that she was located closer geographically so that I could refer all of my learning disabled patients to her.

She has an incredible ability to diagnose the cause or causes of the academic problems and to know how to get the problems resolved. The bottom line is that children become successful academically and personally, become achievers in school and life, and develop very positive self images as a result of her intervention."

January 27, 2004

I first met Joyce Inouye at the ACSI Teacher’s Convention in Anaheim, California, in November of 2002. I attended a luncheon and seminar she was holding to network teachers within the Christian School systems and assist them in addressing the needs of children who learn differently. God had placed a heavy burden on my heart to learn to work more effectively with these students. As a first grade teacher of twenty-three years, I have seen what a serious issue this has begun within Christian schools.

I was so moved at the seminar by Joyce’s knowledge and her heartfelt ministry to these children. I learned so much that day and began to see that there truly was so much I could be doing at my own school to begin educating parents, teachers, and administrators about current researched based methods of education to assist these struggling students. I also learned of her invaluable testing services and was very encouraged about sending some of my students and former students to her.

I introduced myself to Joyce and immediately she began to encourage me in my desire to start a ministry at my own school. She kept in touch with me and prayed for me. I referred my first student to her for testing shortly after our meeting. This child was failing first grade at the time. After testing this student, she invited me to attend the follow-up meeting with the family. Of all the years I have sent students for formal testing, this was the first time I was asked to attend the meeting. The report came in the form of a twenty page document. It contained not only the testing results, but over six pages of actual, concrete things that this child, his parents, and I could do to assist him in the classroom. At the time I sent this child to Joyce, he had about a five second attention span. With her help and suggestions, we stretched him to forty-five minutes attending with a ten minute break. This was a life changing event in the life of this student! He continued to soar and finished the year in the top fourth of my class.

I was most impressed by her concern that this child and his parents not loose sight of the fact that he was a child of God, fearfully and wonderfully made, and destined for good works in Christ. It was at this meeting I was convinced God was calling me out of first grade and into full time work with students of special needs. I enrolled in a special education credentialing program and continued to keep in touch with Joyce.

Over the next year, she was able to pray for me, continue to test and work with students from our school, and assist me in working with special needs children. Most recently, she spent several hours with me and introduced me to a wonderful group of people who have a special program just for Christian Schools. She was instrumental in assisting me in my presentation of this program to our school board, and we are moving forward toward trying to establish a program for the upcoming school year.

It is so rare to find someone who is truly called by the Lord to ministry in the area of special education. Joyce has true discernment when it comes to understanding how these special children are learning and she takes her job as a commission from the Lord. Her professionalism is beyond compare and the quality of her work is superior to any I have seen.

I am thrilled that she is a part of my life and excited to see how many lives she will continue to touch for the Lord.

To Joyce Inouye website viewers:

Joyce Inouye is a rare and unique woman with a passion to help others and be used by the Lord.  It is no wonder to us that her expertise has been requested from clients in the East Coast to the West Coast. She is renown throughout California with clients from San Francisco to San Diego.

Her expertise is limiting with words, as she has helped my son through testing and recommended strategies that has turned his life around.  Our son was being kicked out of his Junior High School due to failing grades in all subjects, we had no where to go and no one to call.  Joyce was highly recommended by our Principal to help our son through psycho-educational testing.  We met Joyce and were pleased with her services and what she voiced would be helpful that we scheduled our son on her first available opening.  Within one school quarter, our son went from Failing to graduating 8th grade with honor roll grades and being excited to keep his grades at this standing level at the High School.

My son is intelligent, but his difficulties in school have made him think differently.  Joyce has been able to bring the truths back to him in a way that is miraculous.  He understands where his strengths and weaknesses are and have used her designed prescriptive strategies until the school year ended.  He noticed the difference. He saw the results.  And finally, he began to believe in himself.  Joyce was able to turn our son’s attitude from hating to school, to leaving our home to go to school each day with a smile and light and excited spirit.

What makes Joyce Inouye a blessing and gift to God to our family and my son, is that Joyce reflects the love of Jesus in all she does.  Her encouragement is backed up with scripture, and we have taken the scripture she voiced to our son, and placed them in visible spots in our home.  Joyce continues to encourage him through her website as he looks forward to her responses to his questions when he writes her.

I wanted to write Joyce and thank her for her professionalism, and gifted expertise.  She has been our families answer to years and years of prayer.

Thank you,
Rob and Virginia Martin

Dear Joyce Inouye M.A.Ed.,

Our family wants to take a moment of your time to express our deepest gratitude for the services you have provided to our daughter Tegan. When we received the report we had to review it a few times because we couldn't believe our eyes on what we were reading.  The report was detailed and had so much information on Tegan that I now struggle with putting words together to express the how grateful we are that you were able to reveal this information to us.  This report not only has helped us understand Tegan, but has also helped with our sons' education and our family's home structure.  We are grateful for the gift you have given our family from the final report and presentation.

Tegan is doing great now.  The Doctor recommended that she start with a low dosage of medication.  The combination of the medication and your suggestions have helped her not only improve her school performance, but also her attitude towards life and school. It is great watching her do her homework every night and she now looks forward to receiving progress reports; her current GPA is 3.50.  Thank you once again for your help and suggestions.

May God continue to bless your ministry.
 Many Blessings,
The Guerra Family
