The IMPACT Ministry,
(previously named the Unique Learning
Program) was founded in 1996 as a
private, non-profit educational program.
It is dedicated to the educational needs
of students with learning differences
and special needs. Its name reflects the
ministry by "Increasing the student's
Might, Power, Academic abilities,
righteous Choices and God's Truth" within
them.
Although the ministry
and philosophy of the IMPACT Ministry on
each campus of every school that takes
this name may not look or be the same,
it is assumed that each IMPACT Ministry
will offer what is best for the "special
need" students and staff per campus site
and be unique to the needs each campus
dictates.
The web-site
childd.org would like to introduce this
name to your "special needs" program.
Please take it if you would like. It
will not bind you to any rules or
regulations other than that you allow
the Lord to lead you and that you will
use this name as a ministry to meet the
needs of those with "special needs" at
your school, home-school or program.
May God make it very
clear how He will mold your program into
what He desires for your students. You
have our blessings and prayers.
The Ministry of the IMPACT Ministry
The program was envisioned after Psalm
139:13-14, which states, "For Thou didst form my inward parts,
Thou didst weave me in my mother's womb. I will give thanks to
Thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are Thy
works Lord, and my soul knows it very well."
The ministry provides
the opportunity for each student to
become reacquainted with their
understanding that they truly are
"Fearfully and wonderfully made". As
emphasis is placed on developing a
student's area of academic weakness, the
ministry of "being identified in Jesus
Christ" is fully integrated within their
individualized curriculum. Having the
honor to build relationships in Christ
can only "Increase Might, build upon
Power, strengthen Academics, example
righteous Choices, and ingrain Truth."
Our World states, "Let
no child be demeaned or have their
wonder diminished because of our
ignorance or inactivity. Let no child be
deprived of discovery because we lack
the resources to discover their
difficulties. Let no child - ever -
doubt their mind because we are unsure
of our commitments".
Having the IMPACT
Ministry available to the students on
your campus, is one step closer to this
challenge.
Why Have an IMPACT Ministry?
According to the United States Department of Health, a learning
difference affects approximately 15% to 20% of the population.
It is manifested by a disturbance in the ability to process
language despite gifts and abilities in other areas of
intelligence.
Students diagnosed as
having a learning difference, experience
trouble in deciphering and conveying
information through reading, writing,
spelling, organizing numbers, and
remembering information. They may have
trouble listening or expressing
themselves clearly. While many possess
outstanding attributes and sometimes
hidden aptitudes, students with learning
differences take longer to process
language effectively. With appropriate
learning systems, they can be given the
opportunity to build upon their
weaknesses and find greater success
within the regular classrooms.
Statistics taken
across the Nation over ten years ago
found that over 40% of the juvenile
delinquents in the U.S. are learning
disabled.
Childd.org believes
that every student on their campus
should have the opportunity to be
educated in a Christian environment with
curriculum built on Christian
principles. It is believed that if God
has brought the student to a your
campus, the school should provide
learning systems where students can
achieve to their fullest potential and
find continued success within their
classrooms.
