Faith Is Necessary for Teachers of Special Need Programs
(Adapted from a message of Rev. Cory Ishida from Evergreen Baptist Church San Gabriel Valley and Saddleback Community Church)

It is going to be through your faith, that God can use you to take Special Need programs in our private Christian schools to where they will be tomorrow!

1.

Faith is believing even when we don't see it.
"Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen." (Hebrews 11:1)

a.

We don't have the monies to have a special need program.
b. The staff doesn't seem to understand what I am doing.
c. Is God using me to empower my students?

2.

Faith is giving, even when we don't have it.
"By faith, Abel offered to God a better sacrifice than Cain..."(Hebrews 11:4)

a.

I don't have the credentials or experience to teach students with special needs.

b.

Our school is providing this ministry even though we don't have the funding.

c.

Because my passion is to help students with special needs, I continue even though we have no program.

3.

Faith is obeying, when we don't understand it.
"By faith, Noah being warned by God about things not yet seen, in reverence prepared an ark for the salvation of his household..." (Hebrews 11:7)
a. Why is God leading me to start a special needs program?
b. God has given me this student and I don't understand how to reach him/her. By God's leading, I will try my best to make a positive impact.
c. My Administration will not begin a program so I can only help those with special needs in my class.

4.

Faith is remaining steadfastly obedience, even when we are rejected.
"By faith, he lived as an alien in the land of promise..." (Hebrews 11:9)

a.

Other teachers have voiced that they do not like the modifications I am using for my student with special needs.
b. My Administrator is not as supportive as I would like.
c. I feel so alone in the ministry of helping those with special needs at my school.

5.

Faith is persevering, even when we don't feel like it.
"By faith, he left Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king' for he endured, as seeing Him who is unseen." (Hebrews 11:27)

a.

I am tired and weary and I cannot give any more once I come home.
b. We have no monies or extra funding.

c.

I am embarrassed to admit this, but it is a difficult challenge to love this student.

6.

Faith is thanking God, even before we receive it.
"By faith, the walls of Jericho fell down, after they had been encircled for seven days." (Hebrews 11:30)
a. God is using me as His vessel to anoint this student.
b. God is using me to keep "Christ" in our Christian schools, for we are not hindering the children from coming to Him, because of our special need's program
c. I thank God for He is before me and behind me.

7.

Faith is trusting God, even if we don't receive it.

"And all these, having gained approval through their faith, did not receive what was promised..." (Hebrews 11:39)
"All these died in faith, without receiving the promises, but having seen them and having welcomed them from a distance." (Hebrews 11:13)

a.

We do not have extra monies coming in, but I trust God will provide.
b. I do not have the parental support I had hoped for, but all God wants is for me to trust Him.
c. I feel that I am not receiving any support from my School Board or administrators, but I trust that God is softening and molding their hearts toward what I am doing.
